It’s time for Spring Picture Day!!! Picture day is Thursday, March 8th.  Students are allowed to wear free dress for pictures, please be sure to follow our Harmony Student Handbook dress policy.

The 2018-2019 Harmony School of Excellence – District (Houston North District) schools lottery will be held at Harmony Public Schools Central Office, 9321 W Sam Houston Pkwy S, Houston, TX 77099 on Tuesday, February 20th, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. Admission Lottery is a public lottery and doors are open for prospective parents/guardians and students. In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students, Harmony Public Schools will begin taking nominations for all students in grades K-12 for gifted and talented screening who did not test in the fall. Effective January 9, 2018, anyone interested in the educational welfare of these students may nominate them for assessment.

Nomination forms are available at the front office and on the school’s web site. Please see links below. The forms must be returned to the front office by Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Assessment will be scheduled sometime during the months of February and March. Your GATE campus coach will notify you of the exact testing period. For more information about the screening and identification process, parents may contact the school’s GT Coach/teacher.

Houston Harmony Public Schools will continue to be closed on Wednesday, January 17th due to inclement weather. We will resume classes on Thursday, January 18th.

Las Escuelas de Harmony en Houston se quedan cerradas el miercoles, 17 de enero, debido a las condiciones climaticas. Las clases comienzan de nuevo el jueves, 18 de enero.

This Thursday, December 21st, is the last day of school for the year. School ends at 1 pm. Parents should arrive between 1 pm and 1:20 pm to pick up your students. Please do not come early!

Students return to school on Tuesday, January 9th. Have a wonderful break!

Also, if you are missing any items (clothing, lunchbox, backpack), please check the lost and found in the cafeteria. We will donate all items that are not picked up by the end of the day on January 9th.

Harmony staff, teachers, and administrators have spent countless of hours preparing our students for college and each year approximately 85% of our graduating class enrolled in a post-secondary institution.

But, despite these impressive enrollment numbers, far too many of our low income and first-time college students drop out as they hit financial and circumstantial barriers such as the cost of attending college, that has increased by 36% in the last 10 years. Harmony Public Schools has 5,033 graduates to date and is projected to have 11,686 graduates by 2020, current funding sources are unable to meet even the current demands of these programs. Clearly, additional financial support is required.

We are asking our Harmony community to consider going beyond educational efforts, providing even greater assistance to our graduates through generous Harmony Giving Day contributions to the Harmony College Fund. All your donations will go towards helping our Harmony graduates to complete their higher education dreams and achieve their career aspirations by providing additional scholarships and direct college and career support services.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO DISCUSS HARMONY PUBLIC SCHOOLS STATE FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY RATING

Harmony Public Schools | Notice of Public Hearing

As part of the December 13, 2017 Board of Directors Regular Meeting, Harmony Public Schools will hold a public hearing to discuss the HPS Schools’ 2016-2017 Financial Rating Systems of Texas (FIRST) accountability ratings.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room, located at 9321 W Sam Houston Pkwy S, Houston, TX 77099.

Due to the impact of Hurricane Harvey on the families of Houston, the Texas Department of Agriculture is allowing school districts located in counties declared a disaster area to serve ALL students (regardless of eligibility) a free breakfast and lunch until September 30th, 2017. Our school will be participating in this initiative, so we are pleased to provide your children a free breakfast and lunch thus allowing parents to focus on their recovery process.

If you have been displaced as a result of the hurricane or resulting flooding, please contact the school Lunch Clerk. Your child may qualify for free meals for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year if he or she meets the state requirements. Should you have questions or need additional information; please contact your child’s school.
